Antigonish Golf & County Club
The AG&CC is located in the Town of Antigonish - the Highland Heart of Nova Scotia. The town is approximately 225 kilometers (130 miles) east of Halifax, Nova Scotia's capital, and 230 kilometers (138 miles) southeast of the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border along Nova Scotia's Sunrise Trail. The town and the course can be accessed from the Trans Canada Highway (Route 104) at exits 31, 32, 33 and 34.
The AGCC is located just beyond the northwest limits of the town, just past the train tracks at 87 Cloverville Road (off Route 245). Signs are posted throughout the town to direct you to the course.
The original nine hole golf course was laid out by the club's founding members in the mid 1920's. Initially, the course started out in Whidden's Intervale with six holes, but three additional holes were added over time. The nine hole course was opened for play in 1926. The original course layout was characterized by hundreds of stately elms, which provided shade, strategy and a strong visual character for many of the holes. While some of those trees do remain, as many as 600 have been removed because of Dutch Elm disease.
